Nathan Lloyd joined Optima back in 2005 and has gone on to become the longest serving member of the team.
Having studied Computer Science at Lancaster University, Nathan joined Optima and has since progressed to become one of our senior members.
After leaving university he went back to his hometown of Crewe and stumbled across a job advert in the local paper for a System Analyst at Optima. He applied for the position and was accepted for the role – the rest, as they say, is history.
So for someone who has been with the company for a decade, Nathan must have seen plenty of changes, over this long period of time, not just with Optima, but the industry as a whole?
“From the small start-up office in Crewe the company grew to bigger premises in Stafford and gained more employees to cope with customer’s demands,” he explains.
“When I first started flat files were the only way of getting information into our WMS software, but customers link to marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon much more now, which has changed things massively.
“We also automatically link to courier services now, which would not have been possible ten years ago.”
But Nathan feels that more changes are inevitable in such a fast moving industry and the next ten years will see further advances in the way people use WMS.
“In terms of the future, I feel there will be a move away from installed software and more of a shift towards online WMS that is accessible from any device users wish to choose, giving them more freedom and greater control.”
Everyone at Optima would like to congratulate Nathan on this landmark achievement and thank him for all the hard work over the past ten years with the company!
